Information collection and processing
PassGuard Check is designed with absolute privacy as its core foundational principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any passwords, passphrases, or credentials you test using our tools.
All password strength analysis, generation, and checking occurs entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you enter a password or passphrase into our tool:
- The password remains securely in your browser’s local memory only
- No data is sent to our servers, APIs, or any third-party services
- Analysis results are computed instantly on your local device
- Closing the tab or clearing your browser cache removes all traces of your session
We do not require user accounts, registration, or any personal identifying information to use PassGuard Check. The tool is completely anonymous by design.
Our own tracking and data sharing
We do not run our own web analytics. We do not track your behaviour on this site beyond what is necessary for the advertising layer (described in the next section). We do not partner with data brokers, and we do not sell user data ourselves.
The exception is Google AdSense, which we use to fund the site. AdSense and its IAB-registered ad partners may collect cookies and device data for ad personalisation, measurement, and audience research — see the next section (“Advertising and Google AdSense”) for the full details and your opt-out options.
Important distinction: the password analysis tools on this site never transmit anything you type. That guarantee is independent of the advertising layer.
Data security measures
We implement industry-standard security practices to protect the integrity of our service:
- All connections to PassGuard Check enforce HTTPS encryption
- Our website is served through secure, modern hosting infrastructure
- We regularly audit and update dependencies and security patches
Because password analysis happens entirely in your browser, the security of your tested passwords depends primarily on your device’s security. We highly recommend:
- Using a modern, up-to-date web browser
- Avoiding public or shared computers for testing real credentials
- Using an encrypted, dedicated password manager for storing your actual passwords
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- Show personalised or non-personalised advertising based on your browsing history and preferences
- Measure ad performance and impressions
- Conduct audience research
When you visit this site, you will see a consent banner asking how you would like your data used for advertising purposes. Your choices are managed via the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2). You can change your preferences at any time using the consent management link in the site footer.
Google and its advertising partners may collect:
- Cookies and device identifiers
- IP address and approximate location
- Browsing behaviour on this site
- Information about your device and browser
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings: https://www.google.com/settings/ads
Important distinction: the password analysis tools on this site (strength tester, passphrase analyzer, password generator) run entirely in your browser and never transmit your passwords to any server, including Google’s. The advertising layer is separate from the tools and does not have access to anything you type into them.
Local storage and cookie policy
PassGuard Check uses minimal browser local storage strictly for essential, functional user preferences. Apart from the advertising cookies mentioned above, we do not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies.
Essential local storage
We may use your browser’s local storage to remember your functional UI preferences, such as:
- Password generator configuration settings (length preferences, included character types)
- Display mode preferences (light or dark theme)
These functional preferences are stored locally on your device to improve your experience and are never transmitted to our servers or any external party.
User rights and data deletion
Because PassGuard Check does not collect or store personal data, there is no user data to access, modify, or delete from our systems. You have absolute control over your local browser data:
- Clear your browser cache and local storage to instantly remove all UI preferences
- Use your browser’s private/incognito mode for a completely ephemeral session
